Digital revolution

Being at the 12th edition of Highway Africa in South Africa taught me a lot about the how the  world is undergoing a digital revolution.
I have realized that in Zimbabwe the internet is now enhancing the real issues because from time to time people are either twitting or they are on facebook sharing information.
However as a journalist we go a step further and research about the  issues because not everyone has the chance to talk with the responsible authories.
Also the public has limitations when it comes to the information they post on the internet thus as journalists we always have gaps to cover.
I believe as journalist we are still playing the role of gate  keeping.
However the problem of modernism involves ethics, the source, quality, privacy, ownership and how people are able to dealing with digital.
Its sad to note that at times government officials use the new media tools for selfish benefits, as they use social platforms, to monitor people and their opinions.
The internet needs to be secured for the good of journalists and their sources.
