Public Sphere In The Age Of Internet

The internet has brought many changes to our lives in as much as it has brought change to the way we send and receive information. In the past , people relied on newspapers, radio and television for news, while  monthly magazines would come with informaton, but things have since changed now. With just the click of a button you can get any information you want , at anytime and anywhere.People now have access to anything on the internet and also the freedom to comment  and contribute to issues of interest on social media .
I think that in Zimbabwe , for example , internet provides the public the right platform to give their opinions on political issues and to debate on issues which concern them as citizens.
Journalists need to work very hard to provide the public with information and to stir debate otherwise the public will take it upon themselves to post stories on internet.
The National broadcasters in Zimbabwe do not afford the public much freedom to express themselves  when it comes to political issues .For example the constitutional issue is of public interest, people want to hear  the positions of all political parties  . The right thing to do would be to invite all parties and open up the lines for people to contribute. People are now turning to the internet to express their views.
Thumbs up to internet  for availing information to the public, no one can hide or withhold any information or news from anyone.
